Incorporated in April of 1998, I joined the small start up in August of 1998 as employee #18. When.com launched in October of 1998 and was quickly acquired by AOL in April of 1999.
Along with tracking personal appointments, the calendar technology automatically delivers public event information (such as movies, concerts, sporting events) based on users’ interests.
I was the Executive Producer from 1998 – 1999:
- Managed production and web development team for online calendar and event directory. Daily responsibilities included building pages in html, writing specifications, creating page mock ups, and file management.
- Developed and managed the site release schedule and process – an ongoing balance between business/partner needs and maintaining a stable, world-class service as part of AOL.
- Core team member to launch cobranded versions of the service for AOL, Netscape, and CompuServe. Contact for AOL properties and partners during and after cobrand launches.
- Key collaborator on cobrand process and new feature definition.
